Practical, evidence-based therapy to help you understand patterns in thoughts, feelings and behaviour.

Understanding how thoughts, feelings and behaviours connect

Here at Sunflower CBT, we offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), a practical, evidence-based talking therapy that can help you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviours are closely connected.

For example, when we are feeling anxious, we might have thoughts that something will go wrong. These thoughts can increase feelings of fear and lead us to avoid situations that feel difficult. Although avoidance can bring short-term relief, it can sometimes make anxiety stronger over time.

In CBT, we work together to understand these patterns and consider whether there are alternative ways of thinking and responding.

This isn't about simply “thinking positively”. Instead, CBT helps you develop a more balanced and helpful perspective, while making practical changes to behaviours that may be keeping difficulties going.
